It is One-day cricket format tournament named ICC champion trophy, organized by International cricket council (ICC).  This event was started in 1998. Its named was ICC knockout tournament in past. The ICC changed its name in 2002 as ICC Champion trophy. This trophy tournament is held after every four years since 1998.  The aim of ICC behind this event was to raise funds for non-test playing countries. The ICC always tries to schedule this event in those countries who are non-test playing nations.  The first tournament was held in Bangladesh and Kenya.  This tournament creates huge revenue for International cricket council.

In 2006 ICC schedule champion trophy after 2 years. In 2008 tournament was scheduled in Pakistan but due to security reasons, it was shifted into South Africa. After 2008 champion trophy held after four years. The champion trophy has an only difference from world cup is the number of matches is less in champion trophy than the world cup.
